Downtown Dog Promenade
September 23 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Downtown Guelph will come alive with dogs of all breeds, shapes and sizes – and their human caretakers and families – for the first annual Downtown Dog Promenade on Saturday, September 23 between 11am and 2pm.
The event is free to attend, while some activities may include a cost. Donations will be collected on site with all proceeds supporting the Guelph Humane Society.
Several exhibits and events are planned, including a group walk through downtown streets, stations offering tips and advice from local dog groomers and veterinarians, a selfie station with costumes, and free puppy treats. Upon arrival, participants are encouraged to pick up a “Pawsport” at the red check-in tent near the fountain in St George’s Square and collect stamps from participating downtown retailers to be eligible to win gift baskets.
Event guidelines include:
- All dogs must be on a 6-foot lead. Retractable leashes are discouraged.
- No introductions between dogs without checking with their owners.
- Refrain from bringing personal chews or toys.
“Downtown is very pet friendly, and we welcome our community to bring their furry friends for a fun day together,” said event organizer Iside Dallan, owner of Apple Salon. “We are grateful to our community sponsors, whose generosity has allowed us to make a $5,000 donation to the Guelph Humane Society.”
Sponsors include Acqua Salon, Deterco Builders, Elby Professional Recruitment, Pro Concepts Animal Health, Vetoquinol, Pet Valu, Purina, The Letter M and V.A.D.E.R. Clinic.
