Death and Dying – a half day course
June 25, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
$25
SATURDAY 28 May
1-4PM
WITH RESIDENT TEACHER GEN KELSANG KUNDEN
We are alive, therefore we will die. This is the simplest, most obvious truth of our existence, yet very few of us have really come to terms with this fact. Buddha gave extensive teachings on the death process, and on how to use this wisdom to help those who are dying and to live a more full and meaningful life ourself.
The practice of Powa is a traditional Buddhist ritual practice to transfer the consciousness of those who have recently died, or our own consciousness, to a pure land. Powa practice explains clearly how we can face our own death, and how we can help those who are dying. This is one of the kindest things we can do for ourself and for others.
This course is presented in two sessions. In the first session we will explore Buddha’s teachings on what happens when we die, how we can prepare for our death and how to help those who are dying. In the second session we will engage in Powa – transference of consciousness – prayers, with guided meditation so we can gain experience of how to engage in powa for ourselves and for others.
Join our Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Kunden for our half day course. This course is suitable for beginners and more advanced practitioners. Everyone is welcome.
$25. Free for members.
